Otherworld The Offering at The WellOverhanging the Holy Well of Sancreed there is an ancient thorn tree, to which Pilgrims tie rags, as offerings to the Spirit of the Well. For it is believed that as the offering decays, so that for which the Pilgrim prays will manifest. During a visit to the Well I tied to the tree a scrap of cloth which I had torn from my jacket, before passing on to the ruins of the old Chapel just a few paces beyond. Returning to the Well a few minutes later I noticed that the cloth which I had left on the tree had disappeared. Thinking it must have become untied and fallen off, I searched all around for it. It was nowhere to be seen. I asked my companions to help search for it too. But, despite all efforts, the rag was nowhere to be found... So it seemed that my prayer had been answered incredibly quickly.
