Lament for my Silkie
Where are you now that the heather's in full bloom
Please tell me how may I see you soon
And will the light shine brightly
As it shone in your eyes before
And will the breeze blow lightly
As we walk along the shore
Where did you go, in the ocean far from view
I long to know but I cannot follow you
Yes I know the light shines brightly
As it shone in your eyes before
And the breezes they blow lightly
Where we walked along the shore
Some days I see, on that far horizon
Coming for me the one who's surely gone
And your eyes they will shine brightly
As they did that day before
When you came on the breeze so lightly
As I walked along the shore
Now it's just me and a bairn so tall and true
And I can see he'll be following you
And his eyes they will shine brightly
As did yours that day before
When you left in the breeze so lightly
Me alone to walk the shore
Where are you now as the eagle flies high
Remember the vow we said would never die
So does the light shine brightly
As it shone in your eyes before
And does the breeze blow lightly
Where we walked along the shore
